Paying for expensive bespoke tooling, only to find it unsuitable.

The only answer was to purchase a gear shaper.  This turned out to be an expensive education.

Even though the machine was claimed to be professionally restored we could not produce a gear to our satisfaction.

Next was the purchase of another machine, this one only required an extensive service to get it to produce good gears.

A good gear shaper can produce almost silent running gears without shaving them in a second operation with another machine.

We primarily only produce straight cut gears.  Almost any tooth profile can be matched.

Small worms are produced by another method.  Helical worm wheels should be possible soon.

Small sprockets and other circular forms can be cut with a gear shaper too.

Gear mesh testing is done with a Rolling gear tester.
