At PES we use a 4 axis Milling Machine.

With this method we can use HSS formed cutters or modern Carbide profiled tooling.

Often without removing from the machine we can cut woodruff key details and other milled profiles.

Using this approach helps to keep us competitive and accurate.

With small profiled carbide tooling we can reduce the ramp size at the end of the spline.

This can allow for a better bearing surface adjacent to the spine detail.
