Originally this was an open bearing and had mechanical shields protecting it, although not very well.

Using this shielded bearing should dramatically extend its life expectancy.

Use as supplied and don't remove the shields adequate lubrication will happen naturally.

The mechanical sheilds will stil be required for the correct postioning of the mainshaft.
